Dr. Roger Blomquist is a historian, filmmaker, and award-winning Western saddlemaker with deep roots in the American West. After years as an architectural designer, a surprise role in a historical film awakened his passion for history, leading to advanced degrees in American Frontier History from BYU and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. His academic work focuses on Western saddles, frontier culture, and history in film. He’s worked on productions like Yellowstone, The American West, and Touched by an Angel, and his saddles appear in Kevin Costner’s Horizon among others. Roger has taught history at the university level and is now a published historical fiction author, blending true stories with creative storytelling. He continues to work in film and media while mentoring writers and restoring his vintage Mustang.
