Moises Aguirre is the Director of Multicultural Student Services at Brigham Young University. He holds a master’s degree in Social Work from BYU, which led him to pursue the Professional Educator Licensure Master’s Program at Utah State University, specializing in Counselor Education, School Counseling, and Guidance Services. He is currently working toward his Doctorate in Education at BYU, where his research focuses on the intersectionality of trust and belonging among students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Moises has spent many years working in secondary education, helping American minority students overcome barriers to earning a high school diploma. Through this experience, he became acutely aware of the academic needs of underrepresented students and their families. In response, he developed programs, educational initiatives, resources, and services that help bridge the gap and guide these students toward both academic and personal success. His extensive background also enables him to support first-generation, low-income students as they transition into higher education.
His deep appreciation for their unique stories drives his continued advocacy for the students he serves at BYU. Outside of his professional work, Moises enjoys dancing, playing volleyball, and spending time with his wife, Ruth, and their four beautiful children at the beach.
