Angela serves as the Director of the Student Connection and Leadership Center. She works with full-time staff, manages finances and communications for the Center, and works directly with the BYUSA presidency. Angela is a certified StrengthsFinder coach through the Gallup organization based in Omaha, Nebraska. She also teaches the STDEV 155 Authentic Leadership class where she incorporates a strengths based curriculum to help students understand their strengths, how to recognize other’s strengths, and work in teams.
Angela has been working in higher education for over two decades. Previous to her time at BYU, she was positioned in the Student Affairs department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she worked with the Parent’s Association and planned leadership events and awards banquets.
She earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska and a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership from Brigham Young University. Angela has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Romney Institute at the BYU Marriott School of Business.
Angela is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is married to Roger Cary Blomquist and has one daughter, two granddaughters, and one grandson. She started showing quarter horses at the age of ten, represented the state of Texas as the North Texas Pinto Horse Queen, and went on to win the Nationals with her Pinto/Paint Gelding in Oklahoma City. Angela has worked with youth preparing them for state in 4-H, facilitating horse safety and showmanship clinics. She continues working with horses in her spare time, watching her daughter and granddaughter compete, and always has a camera capturing the moments of today that will wow the heart tomorrow.
